Supported Browsers
Keep your browser updated. Chromium-based browsers provide the most consistently tested experience for large uploads, notebooks, and 3D or canvas-based viewers.

Required for the application and workspace tools.

Required for sign-in and secure session management.
Local storage
Used for interface preferences and safe client-side recovery.
WebGL
Required for interactive 3D molecular and scientific viewers.
Downloads
Allow downloads to export reports, figures, notebooks, and data.
Pop-ups
Usually unnecessary; your identity provider may open a sign-in window.
Operating System and Display
CATO runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, iPadOS, and other systems that can run a supported browser. A desktop or laptop viewport of 1280 × 720 or larger is recommended for the three-pane research workspace; smaller screens remain usable for focused tasks.
Network Requirements

Managed networks: if responses remain on “Connecting,” arrive all at once, or reconnect repeatedly, ask IT to disable proxy buffering and aggressive idle timeouts for the CATO domain. Content filters should also permit file uploads and downloads.
